Itinerary Details

Day 1 Arrival at Paro (2,235m/7,331ft)

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After checking in and freshening up, you can explore Paro town and visit key sites such as Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum. Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 2 Sightseeing and Acclimatization Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (3,180m/10,433ft)

After breakfast, embark on a challenging yet rewarding hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang). The round-trip hike takes about 5 to 6 hours through lush pine forests and steep trails. Enjoy breathtaking views from the monastery, perched on a cliffside. After descending, return to Paro for the night.

Day 3 Drive to Shana (2,850m/9,350ft) & Trek to Sio Thangthangkha (3,750m/12,303ft)

After breakfast, take a scenic 30-minute drive (17km) to Shana, where the trek begins. The trail follows the Paro Chhu (river) through dense forests, gradually ascending towards Sio Thangthangkha. Expect a 6 to 7-hour trek covering 18km. Camp overnight at Sio Thangthangkha.

Day 4 Trek to Jangothang (4,050m/13,287ft)

Continue trekking for 5 to 6 hours (12km) along the Paro Chhu valley. As you ascend, the terrain opens up, revealing spectacular views of Mount Jomolhari. Arrive at Jangothang, also known as Jomolhari Base Camp. Overnight at camp.

Day 5 Acclimatization at Jangothang

Spend the day acclimatizing and exploring the surroundings. Optional short hikes offer stunning views of Jomolhari and neighboring peaks. Rest and prepare for the upcoming trekking days. Overnight at Jangothang.

Day 6 Trek from Jangothang to Lingshi (4,100m/13,451ft)

This 6 to 7-hour (15.5km) trek involves crossing the Nyile La Pass (4,870m/15,978ft), offering panoramic mountain views. The descent leads to Lingshi, where you can explore the ancient Lingshi Dzong. Camp overnight.

Day 7 Trek from Lingshi to Shodu (4,100m/13,451ft)

A challenging 6 to 7-hour trek (15 km- 18 km) begins with an ascent to the highest pass of the trek, Yele La Pass (4,930m/16,174ft). Enjoy magnificent views before descending to Shodu, where the lush forests return. Camp overnight.

Day 8 Trek from Shodu to Barshong (3,600m/11,810ft)

Trek for 7 to 8 hours (14 km- 21 km) through a beautiful valley along the Thimphu Chhu. Pass serene meadows and rocky cliffs before reaching Barshong, where an ancient dzong stands. Camp overnight.

Day 9 Short Trek from Barshong & Drive to Thimphu

A short 30-minute (about 3 km) trek leads to the roadhead, where a vehicle awaits. Drive for 2 to 3 hours (35km) to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. After checking into your hotel, explore Thimphu’s markets and attractions. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 10 Thimphu Sightseeing Tour & Drive to Paro

Visit Thimphu’s key attractions, including the Buddha Dordenma statue, Memorial Chorten, and Tashichho Dzong. After sightseeing, take a 1-hour (54km) drive to Paro for the night.
