While trekking remains an incredible experience, many travelers simply do not have two weeks available or may prefer a more comfortable alternative. The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour makes this dream accessible in a single day while providing unforgettable aerial views that trekkers never experience.
Flying above the Khumbu region reveals a completely different perspective of the Himalayas. Snow-covered peaks rise above deep valleys, massive glaciers stretch across rugged terrain, and traditional Sherpa settlements appear nestled among the mountains. The journey offers uninterrupted views from takeoff to landing, making every minute of the flight an unforgettable experience.
Unlike many sightseeing flights that remain at a distance, this helicopter tour brings you directly into the heart of the Everest region. Depending on weather conditions and aviation regulations, the helicopter flies toward Kala Patthar, the closest and most spectacular viewpoint of Mount Everest. From here, travelers enjoy one of the finest panoramic mountain views anywhere in the world.
The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour offers a remarkable morning flight from Kathmandu into the heart of the Everest region. The 4 to 5 hour journey includes a landing at Kala Patthar (5,545 m) and a breakfast stop at Hotel Everest View. The route follows the great Khumbu Valley, passing Lukla, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and the Khumbu Glacier before reaching the high mountains.
No trekking experience or multi-day trekking fitness is required. For travelers with limited time, the tour offers a rare opportunity to see Everest and the surrounding peaks without spending two weeks on the trail. For travelers who cannot devote two weeks to a Himalayan trek, the helicopter journey offers a different way to experience the Everest region. From the air, the great peaks of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam rise above the valleys and glaciers, while the villages and monasteries of the Khumbu appear below.
The short ground stops also make the journey appealing to older travelers and those with limited time. Anyone with a heart, lung, or other health condition should seek medical advice before travelling to high altitude.
Among the main reasons travelers choose an Everest helicopter tour are:
A private vehicle collects you from your hotel and takes you to the domestic terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport. The morning begins with passenger check-in, weight verification, and the necessary permit arrangements.
The helicopter leaves Kathmandu and heads east, passing over Bhaktapur and Nagarkot before climbing towards the Himalayan foothills and Lukla.
The helicopter makes a brief stop at Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, situated at approximately 2,860 m. The pause allows the aircraft to refuel before continuing deeper into the Everest region.
The flight continues beyond Namche Bazaar and Tengboche, following the valley towards the high mountains. The Khumbu Glacier gradually comes into view as the helicopter approaches Kala Patthar.
Weather permitting, passengers spend approximately 10 to 15 minutes on the ground at Kala Patthar. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam dominate the surrounding skyline.
The helicopter descends towards Syangboche, where passengers can enjoy breakfast at Hotel Everest View while taking in the panorama of the Khumbu peaks.
After breakfast, the helicopter begins the return journey towards Kathmandu, following the route back through Lukla.
The helicopter lands at Tribhuvan International Airport. A private vehicle then takes you back to your hotel.
Times are approximate. Weather, airport operations, air traffic, and landing conditions may alter the schedule.
The journey begins above the Kathmandu Valley before continuing towards Bhaktapur, Nagarkot, and the forested hills. As the landscape rises, the familiar settlements of the Khumbu come into view, including Lukla, Namche Bazaar, and Tengboche.
Further north, the flight passes the Khumbu Glacier and approaches the great Himalayan peaks. On a clear day, you may see Mount Everest (8,848.86 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Nuptse (7,861 m), Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Ama Dablam (6,856 m), Pumori (7,165 m), and Thamserku (6,608 m).
The scenery changes continually, from green hills and traditional settlements to bare rock, snow, ice, and the immense walls of the high Himalayas.
Kala Patthar stands at 5,545 m and offers one of the finest viewpoints towards Mount Everest. From the landing area, Everest rises beyond Nuptse and Lhotse, while Ama Dablam and other peaks form part of the wider Himalayan panorama.
Everest Base Camp and the Khumbu Icefall can be seen from the flight. A direct landing at Base Camp depends on the season, air traffic, weather, and operational restrictions. It does not form part of every package.
If a direct Everest Base Camp landing is important to your plans, contact us before booking so we can confirm what can be arranged for your travel date.
Most landing packages include a stop at Hotel Everest View in Syangboche. The hotel overlooks the Khumbu valley and provides an extraordinary setting for breakfast, with Everest and the surrounding peaks forming the backdrop.
For many passengers, this quiet stop becomes one of the most memorable moments of the journey. After breakfast, the helicopter begins its return flight towards Kathmandu.
| Helicopter Tour | EBC Trek | |

| Experience | Aerial views and short ground stops | Villages, monasteries, Sherpa culture, and gradual ascent |
| Best for | Limited time and travelers unable to undertake a long trek | Travelers seeking the complete trekking experience |
For those who want both experiences, a trek-in and helicopter-out itinerary offers a compelling alternative. You can walk through the Khumbu, spend time in its villages, reach Base Camp on foot, and then return by helicopter.
Spring brings generally favourable morning conditions and renewed activity in the Everest region. During the climbing season, passengers may also see expedition activity around Base Camp.
Autumn traditionally brings clear mountain views, particularly during October. It is also one of the busiest periods in the Everest region, so advance booking is advisable.
Winter brings colder temperatures, yet clear mornings can provide remarkable mountain visibility. Warm clothing becomes particularly important during the landing stops.
The monsoon brings cloud, rain, and less predictable flying conditions. Visibility can deteriorate quickly, and delays or cancellations become more common.

Clothing: Wear a thermal base layer beneath a fleece or light down jacket. Bring a windproof outer layer, warm trousers, gloves, a warm hat, scarf, thick wool socks, and supportive footwear.
Personal gear: UV-protection sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, a charged camera or phone, a spare memory card, and a small daypack are useful.
For the flight: Carry personal medication, a small bottle of water, and a few light snacks. A flask of a warm drink can also be useful during the colder parts of the journey.
There is no need to bring the equipment required for a multi-day trek. Space and weight remain limited on high-altitude helicopter flights.
Flights operate with aircraft and crews experienced in Himalayan conditions. High-altitude flying demands careful attention to weather, aircraft performance, passenger weight, and landing conditions.
The helicopter carries up to 5 passengers and a stated maximum total weight of 500 kg. Above approximately 4,000 m, the permissible operating weight becomes lower. Groups exceeding the applicable limit may need to stop at Pheriche before continuing towards Kala Patthar.
Passenger weight is requested at the time of booking because it forms an important part of flight planning.
Mountain weather can change rapidly. Flights require suitable visibility and stable conditions, and the pilot may alter the route, delay departure, or shorten the flight when safety requires it.
For this reason, the itinerary should be regarded as an approximate schedule rather than a fixed timetable.
Passengers spend only a short period above 5,000 m, although some people may experience headache, breathlessness, or light-headedness. Onboard oxygen is available when required.
Anyone with a serious medical condition should consult a qualified doctor before undertaking a high-altitude flight.
A 30% deposit confirms the booking. The remaining balance can be paid on arrival in Kathmandu or in advance.
Payment can be made by card, bank transfer, or the website's secure payment system. A 4% bank service charge applies to card payments. Cash and cheque are also accepted in Kathmandu.
The flight itself forms only part of the experience. Good planning matters just as much when weather changes, permits need attention, or passengers have questions about altitude and aircraft operations.
Our team brings experience from across the Nepal Himalayas, including Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, Manaslu Circuit, Langtang Valley, and other major trekking routes.
Experienced local team: Our staff understands the landscapes and practical conditions of the Everest region.
Transparent pricing: Package costs and deposit requirements are stated clearly.
Personal attention: Small groups allow the team to respond to individual needs and schedules.
Safety-conscious operation: Flights are planned with attention to aircraft performance, weather, passenger weight, and high-altitude conditions.
Weather cancellation policy: Weather-related cancellations receive a full refund according to the stated policy.
The complete journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours from Kathmandu, including the landing and breakfast stop.
Flights operate according to weather and aviation conditions, with experienced pilots and crews familiar with Himalayan flying. The pilot may alter or cancel a flight whenever conditions make continuation unsafe.
Many older travelers choose the helicopter tour because it avoids the physical demands of a multi-day trek. Anyone with a medical condition should consult a doctor before travelling to high altitude.
No trekking experience is required. The journey involves short ground stops rather than several days of walking.
Kala Patthar remains the standard landing point for this tour. A direct landing at Everest Base Camp depends on the season, weather, air traffic, and operational restrictions.
The stated maximum is up to 500 kg or 5 passengers on the lower sections of the route. The permissible weight becomes lower at higher elevations, and larger groups may need to adjust the passenger load at Pheriche.
Weather-related cancellations receive a full refund under the stated cancellation policy.
Yes. Private charters can accommodate different schedules and routing arrangements. A trek-in and helicopter-out itinerary can also be arranged for travelers who want both trekking and aerial travel.
For travelers planning an Everest helicopter tour in spring or autumn, advance booking is recommended because demand is higher during these months.

Definitely, one of the best experiences of my life was the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour back in May month of 2022. My holiday in Nepal was almost at an end but I had still not visited the crown jewel of trekking in Nepal, the Everest Base Camp. Upon consulting with my friends who had been to the Khumbu region before, they recommended exploring Everest via a helicopter tour.
I must admit I was a bit skeptical at first regarding whether I would be have the same enjoyment and experience from a chopper as I did from trekking. But this doubt was soon cleared as this trip turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. Nepal Himalayas Trekking owner (Mr. Prakash) responded super quick and arranged a flight for me. I was able to enjoy the pristine beauty of the Everest region without a worry in the world as Nepal Himalayas Trekking agency took care of everything impeccably. I would certainly recommend them for anyone thinking of touring via Heli in Nepal.
See you soon

Hello Everyone, if you have time to enjoy your holiday in Nepal, a safe haven with less worry of Covid-19, although the pandemic exists but less compared to other countries. Our trip with Nepal Himalayas Trekking on the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour was beyond all expectations amazing. We have visited more than 20 Countries for different kinds of activities. But in Nepal, this 1 Day Adventure journey was a life-changing experience that will always be woven into the fabric of our hearts and mind. From the Kala Patthar point of the helicopter, We saw an amazing & incredible view of mountains with royal peaks that seemed to reach for the sky. The sheer beauty of nature's masterpiece left an indelible mark on our minds, and each moment unfolded before my amazed eyes like a vivid picture.
Not only that. As we flew through the air, we were excited, but when we landed at the luxurious Hotel Everest View at Syangboche, we were calm again. There, in the middle of the clouds, we ate a delicious breakfast with a Fabulous view of the Top Of the world. It was a feast for the senses that fed both the body and the spirit. The Himalayan giant stood guard in silence, inspiring awe and respect.
We would like to say great thanks to Nepal Himalayas Trekking from the bottom of our hearts for putting together this amazing trip, where dreams came true and the majesty of Everest became a treasured partner on an unforgettable journey.

Our Everest Base Camp Charter flight was perfectly worth it because we choose Nepal Himalayas Trekking.
There are lots of travel agencies in the street of Thamel Kathmandu, Nepal but I am glad that we choose the Nepal Himalayas Trekking Company.
Mr. Prakash, the owner of Nepal Himalayas Trekking, was very responsive to all of our queries during the planning stage of our trip. He provided a customized itinerary suitable for our group and accommodated changes along the way. This tour company/tour operator only required a 30% downpayment for the tour sent via wire transfer, which was not bad. They did not immediately collect the remaining balance on the first day; hence, they asked for it when all of the activities for the tour were done.
Staffs are very nice and accommodating. They guided us all throughout our stay in Nepal. We enjoyed the Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour. We were assigned to a very experienced and calm pilot from Manang Air. Our Guide or owner Mr. Prakash was right when we stayed for breakfast at Kongde Yeti Mountain Home as it provided a spectacular view of the Himalayan mountains. Mr. Prakash surely knew the best spots in some of Kathmandu's iconic places. He was patient and always smiled.
The complimentary Nepalese dinner with the cultural show during our last night in Kathmandu was perfect to end our unforgettable trip to Nepal.
We would definitely consider with Nepal Himalayas Trekking in our future trips to Everest Base Camp Trek & Manaslu Circuit Trek.
