The Kanchenjunga Trek is one of Nepal’s most stunning and remote treks, requiring special permits due to its location in a restricted area. Below is a breakdown of the Kanchenjunga trek permit costs for 2024.

1. Restricted Area Permit (RAP) Cost for Kanchenjunga

Since the Kanchenjunga region falls under a restricted zone, trekkers must obtain a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) issued by the Nepal Immigration Office.

First four weeks: USD 20 per person per week

Beyond four weeks: USD 25 per person per week

2. Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Permit (KCAP) Cost

Trekkers also need a Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Permit (KCAP) from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

Cost for all foreign trekkers: USD 30 per person

SAARC Nationals: NPR 1,500 per person

3. Do You Need a TIMS Card for Kanchenjunga?

No, a Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card is not required if you already have a Restricted Area Permit for Kanchenjunga.

4. Where to Get the Permits?

You can obtain these permits through a registered trekking agency in Nepal, like Nepal Himalayas Trekking as solo trekking is not allowed in the Kanchenjunga region. Your agency will handle all paperwork on your behalf.

5. Additional Costs to Consider

Guide and Porter Fees: Since solo trekking is prohibited, hiring a government-licensed guide is mandatory. A guide costs around $25–$30 per day, while a porter costs $20–$25 per day.

National Park Fees (if applicable): If your itinerary includes other national parks, additional entry fees may apply.

1. There is US$30 for the Kanchenjunga Restricted Permit, which is up to 14 Days. 

2. There is US$30 for the Kanchenjunga National Park Permit. 

3. There is US$20 for the Tims Card (Trekkers Information Management System).
